【Detecting
Principles and Methodology】
By
sending a 1KHz electrical signal to underground pipelines, the detector
determines the running direction and the depth of pipelines based on the
principle that the received signal is the smallest (almost zero) when the probe
is vertically tangent to the magnetic horizon.
An
AC signal source sent to the underground pipeline, in case the coating is
corroded, the metal part at that area is short-circuited with the earth, and the
loop is formed at the damaged point, which radiates the leakage point signal to
the ground, with the strongest signal right above the damaged point. That’s the
principle how we can find out the damaged point on the coating accurately.
Leakage
detection method: The leakage detector adopts “body capacitance method”, i.e.,
with human body as the induction element of the leakage detector. When the
operator walks close to the leakage point, the leakage detector begins to
react. When he is right above the leakage point, the volume in the loudspeaker
is the highest and the displayed value is the largest. That’s how we can find
the leakage point.
